All about
e-mail
I'm stuck with my current
e-mail address - right?
Well, no, not exactly! There's
lots of options to consider with e-mail addresses and we may be able to give
you some help or advice so that you can decide what to do. |
|
|
| Old or
New?
You probably already have an
e-mail address (but don't worry if you haven't) and you need to decide before
your site goes live if you are happy to stay with your current address or not.
If you decide you are happy with it - thats fine, keep it! But if your e-mail
address is something like David47@UKispco.net does it really promote your business? Wouldn't it be more
meaningfull if it was something like DLemon@Wesellfruit.co.uk (or whatever) or GSmith@MyCorpco.com ?
Also, using an ISP issued e-mail address tells your clients you are a VERY
small company.

| New e-mail Addresses
If we are registering a domain
name for your web site then this is the best time to think about using more
meaningful e-mail addresses. As well as an address for you and each of your
staff think about Sales@Mycompany.co.uk
or Info@Myorganisation.com
or maybe even mail names like 'bookings', 'memberships' or 'quotes'. You can
choose more or less whatever makes sense for your company, not an arbitary name
allocated to you by an ISP.

| E-mail forwarding
If you want to carry on using
your current mail name (after all, some of your clients already use it) but
think that you should have a new name anyway then we can arrange for mail sent
to your new address or to your 'sales' address to be forwarded on to your
current address. You won't even need to change the set-up on your PC. If you
use this facility carefully you can give the impression of being a much bigger
organisation than you are.

| Forms
Some people might prefer not
to disclose their actual e-mail address on the web site. For a small extra
charge we can create a form instead for your customers to fill in and send. The
system will process the information collected and send it on to your private
e-mail address. You can then choose how (and if) to contact the
sender.

| Web mail
Even if your current ISP
doesn't provide the ability for you to read your mail through a browser (so you
can read your mail at an Internet café or from any Internet connected
PC) we can probably set this up for you. (A small charge may be required.) It
might be important for you to just be able to skim through your mail whenever
you are away on business or away from the office for a few days. Call for
details. |
